Parent psychoeducation is structured sessions for the adults around a child, focused on understanding and on practical response rather than on therapy for the parent.
What it covers
How ADHD and related difficulties present, why certain situations are consistently harder, and what tends to help at home and at school.
Why it is offered to parents
Children spend most of their time with the adults around them. Changes made by those adults often have more day-to-day effect than anything that happens in a clinic room.
It is not blame
Being offered psychoeducation does not imply that anything has been done wrong. It reflects that informed adults are the most useful resource a child has.
