Child and Young Person ADHD Assessment
An online ADHD assessment for children and young people, involving both the young person and their parents, carers or guardians. The assessment establishes whether ADHD is present, and what support would help either way.

An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. Medication is offered only where clinically appropriate. GP shared-care acceptance cannot be guaranteed. Clients may need to continue paying privately for prescriptions, reviews and monitoring.
Who this assessment is for
Children and young people in England, referred by a parent, carer or guardian.
PRC supports children, young people and adults aged 4 to 65. Where a child is close to either end of that range, or where another service would clearly be a better fit, PRC will say so on the free suitability call rather than after you have booked.
What the assessment includes
- Involvement of both the young person and their parents, carers or guardians
- School evidence, where it is available
- Developmental history
- Questionnaires completed before the appointment
- Clinical assessment with a qualified professional
- A diagnostic decision, which may or may not be a diagnosis of ADHD
- A written report and recommendations
- Feedback for both the parent, carer or guardian and the young person
Frequently asked questions
No. An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. Its purpose is to understand what is happening for your child and to set out what would help, whether or not a diagnosis is made.
Medication is offered only where it is clinically appropriate, and it is arranged as a separate stage after the assessment rather than during it. It is never guaranteed.
No. The assessment is arranged so that your child takes part in a way that suits their age and understanding. A parent or guardian takes part throughout.
Information from school and from others who know your child well is often helpful, and PRC will explain what is useful before the appointment. Anything shared with a school is agreed with you first.
Either. Appointments are available online across England, and in person at our Northampton office: Unit F28, Moulton Park Business Centre, Redhouse Road, Northampton NN3 6AQ.
Please tell the team which you would prefer when you book. In-person appointments are by arrangement only, so please do not attend the office without a booked appointment.
Consent and safeguarding
Assessments involving children and young people carry specific consent and safeguarding responsibilities. Who can give consent depends on the young person’s age and understanding, and we will confirm this with you before the assessment begins.

Treatment is a separate stage
Assessment and treatment are not the same appointment. If ADHD is diagnosed, any medication pathway is arranged separately and only where it is clinically appropriate. Post-diagnosis support such as parent psychoeducation, therapy and coaching is arranged separately, and is available whether or not your child receives a diagnosis.
Price
The fee covers the assessment itself, the feedback appointment and your child’s diagnostic report. There is no separate report fee for the standard report included with the assessment.
Payment is normally due before or at the time of booking, and instalment arrangements may be available for assessments — ask when you book. Any medication, private prescription and pharmacy charges are separate.
