Therapy and Mental Health Support

CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy, online or in person at our Northampton office, working on the links between how you think, how you feel and what you do, and building practical strategies you can use between sessions.

Who this is for

Adults and young people in England who want a structured, practical approach to difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, worry, panic, or unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Whether CBT is the right approach for you depends on your needs and on professional assessment.

What sessions involve

Suitability, limitations and crisis support

Therapy does not guarantee improvement or a particular outcome, and it is not a cure. It may not be the right approach for everyone, and PRC will say so where something else would help more. Therapy is not a crisis service and does not provide urgent or out-of-hours support.

Sessions, duration and your therapist

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly. The pattern is agreed with you — some people prefer to space sessions further apart, and PRC can work that way where it is clinically appropriate.

There is no minimum number of sessions you have to commit to. Progress is reviewed with you as you go. Booking a block costs less if you want to: six sessions are £570 and ten are £900.

Price

£110 per 50-minute session

CBT is £110 for a 50-minute session. There is nothing further to pay beyond the session fee.

Booking a block costs less: six individual sessions are £570 and ten are £900. You are never required to book a package, and how many sessions will help is a clinical judgement made with you.

Cancellation: more than 48 hours’ notice, no charge; less than 48 hours, 50% of the session fee; a missed session with no notice, the full fee. Full details are on the Prices page.

Frequently asked questions

No approach can guarantee improvement. CBT has good evidence behind it for a number of difficulties, but outcomes vary between people and depend on many factors.

The appropriate approach depends on your needs and on professional assessment. A suitability call is the usual starting point, and PRC will say if something else would suit you better.

Usually yes. CBT relies on trying things out between sessions, and this is agreed with you rather than imposed.

Therapy is not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, contact NHS 111, or call 999 if you or another person is in immediate danger.
