Therapy and Mental Health Support

Trauma and PTSD Therapy

Online trauma-informed therapy for people affected by frightening, overwhelming or repeated difficult experiences, delivered at a pace that keeps you steady.

Safety and pacing come first

Trauma work is only started when it is safe and appropriate to do so. You will never be required to describe events in detail before you are ready. Where stabilisation, other support or a different service would help more first, PRC will say so.

Who this is for

Adults and young people in England living with the effects of trauma — which may include flashbacks, nightmares, feeling constantly on edge, avoidance, numbness or difficulty trusting others. Whether trauma-focused work is right for you now depends on your needs and on professional assessment.

What sessions involve

Suitability, limitations and crisis support

Therapy does not guarantee improvement or a particular outcome, and it is not a cure. Therapy is not a crisis service and does not provide urgent or out-of-hours support. Trauma work can temporarily feel harder before it feels easier, which is why pacing and safety planning are agreed with you in advance.

Sessions, duration and your therapist

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly. A trauma or PTSD assessment, where one is needed first, is £250.

Trauma work is paced to what feels manageable, so the pattern and the approach are agreed with you after assessment rather than fixed in advance. PRC works in a trauma-informed way, and your therapist will explain which approach they are proposing and why before any work starts.

There is no minimum number of sessions you have to commit to. Booking a block costs less if you want to: six sessions are £570 and ten are £900.

Price

£110 per 50-minute session

Trauma-informed therapy is £110 for a 50-minute session. Where an assessment is needed first, a trauma or PTSD assessment is £250.

Booking a block costs less: six individual sessions are £570 and ten are £900. Trauma work is paced to what feels manageable, so you are never asked to commit to a block before you and your therapist have agreed it is right.

Cancellation: more than 48 hours’ notice, no charge; less than 48 hours, 50% of the fee; a missed session with no notice, the full fee. Full details are on the Prices page.

Frequently asked questions

Not before you are ready. Trauma work begins with safety and stability, and processing difficult memories happens at a pace agreed with you.

Therapy does not guarantee improvement and is not a cure. Many people find trauma-focused therapy helpful, but outcomes vary between people.

That is common and it is not a problem. PRC will discuss what would help now, which may be stabilisation work or a different kind of support first.

Therapy is not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, contact NHS 111, or call 999 if you or another person is in immediate danger.
