Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask most often about PRC’s services, how booking works, and what we can and cannot do.

About PRC

Either. Appointments are available online across England, and in person at our Northampton office: Unit F28, Moulton Park Business Centre, Redhouse Road, Northampton NN3 6AQ.

Please tell the team which you would prefer when you book. In-person appointments are by arrangement only, so please do not attend the office without a booked appointment.

PRC provides online services across England, and in-person appointments at its Northampton office.

PRC’s clinical assessment and treatment services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. PRC’s non-clinical workplace coaching and support service is separately identified and is not regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

No. PRC does not provide an emergency or crisis response. If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent medical advice, contact NHS 111 or attend the nearest emergency department.

Assessment and diagnosis

No. An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. Its purpose is to reach an accurate understanding of what is happening and to set out what would help, whether or not a diagnosis is made.

No. Assessments are arranged with you after a suitability conversation, so that the right appointment type is matched to your needs.

Not automatically. An Existing Diagnosis and Transfer-of-Care Review considers your report and records and reaches a clinical view. Additional assessment may be required.

Yes. PRC offers a full autism diagnostic assessment, including the clinical assessment, relevant questionnaires and supporting information, a feedback appointment and a written diagnostic report.

PRC also offers lower-cost autism screening and guidance, which is a different service: it explores whether autism may be relevant to you but does not produce a diagnosis. Screening is not diagnosis.

Yes. A combined ADHD and autism assessment is available and costs less than booking the two separately. Whether it is the right choice for you is discussed on your free suitability call.

Treatment and medication

Medication is offered only where it is clinically appropriate. It is never guaranteed, and it is arranged as a separate stage after assessment rather than during it.

No. Treatment and medication appointments are arranged by PRC only after your pathway has been confirmed.

GP shared-care acceptance cannot be guaranteed. It is a decision for your GP practice, and many practices decline. You may need to continue paying privately for prescriptions, reviews and monitoring.

No. Private prescription charges and pharmacy charges for the medication itself are separate from PRC appointment fees.

Therapy and support

No approach can guarantee improvement, and therapy is not a cure. Outcomes vary between people and depend on many factors.

The appropriate approach depends on your needs and on professional assessment. A suitability call is the usual starting point.

No. Therapy is based on the difficulties you are experiencing rather than on holding a diagnosis.

No. Coaching is practical and forward-looking and does not diagnose or treat. Therapy works on emotional difficulties and distress. Clinical treatment is different again.

Workplace support

No. It is a non-clinical workplace coaching and support service. It does not provide diagnosis, medical treatment, psychotherapy, medication advice or emergency mental health support, and it is not regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

That is decided by the Access to Work scheme, not by PRC. PRC cannot guarantee that an award will be made or that it will cover PRC services.

No. Support is based on the difficulties you are experiencing at work rather than on holding a diagnosis.

Booking and fees

It is a free 15-minute conversation about your needs and the options available. This call is for information and pathway suitability. It is not a clinical assessment and no diagnosis or treatment is provided during the call.

Every fee is published on the Prices page, including what each fee covers, what is charged separately, and the cancellation terms. PRC explains the recommended pathway and the cost before you book.

No. You can refer yourself — a GP referral is not required for any PRC service.

If you already have reports, letters or a diagnosis from elsewhere, sharing them helps and may save time, but it is not essential. With your consent PRC may ask your GP for relevant information, and will always tell you before doing so.
