An ADHD assessment for a child or young person involves both the young person and the adults around them. It is delivered online, and it is arranged by a parent, carer or guardian.
Why more than one perspective is needed
ADHD shows up differently in different settings. A child may hold things together at school and struggle at home, or the reverse. Gathering information from more than one setting is part of assessing properly, not an extra formality.
What the appointment involves
The clinician will talk with the parent or carer about development, early years, health and current difficulties, and will involve the young person in a way that suits their age and understanding.
The result
You receive a clear opinion and an explanation of it. That opinion may or may not be a diagnosis. If ADHD is diagnosed, what happens next is discussed separately, and support is available whether or not a diagnosis is given.
