Physical monitoring during medication

Medication for ADHD is prescribed alongside physical monitoring. This is standard practice and is there to keep prescribing safe over time.

Why it is done

Some medications can affect things like heart rate, blood pressure, appetite, sleep and growth in children. Monitoring means changes are noticed early and the plan can be adjusted.

What it involves

The specific checks and their frequency depend on the medication, your age and your health. Your clinician will tell you what applies to you and why, rather than applying a single template to everyone.

It continues after titration

Monitoring is not only for the starting phase. Ongoing review is part of continuing to prescribe.
