Titration is the process of finding whether a medication helps and, if so, at what dose. It is deliberately gradual.
Why it is not immediate
Medication is started low and adjusted in steps, with review between each step. The aim is the smallest dose that gives a useful effect, judged against side effects rather than in isolation.
What is monitored
Physical monitoring is part of prescribing, not an optional extra. What is monitored and how often is a clinical decision made with you at the time.
What is not promised
Medication is offered only where it is clinically appropriate, and no medication is guaranteed to help. Some people benefit substantially, some benefit modestly, and some stop because the trade-off is not worth it.
