Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
A Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with more than two decades of experience in psychiatry, working with children, young people and adults. His practice covers planned and urgent psychiatric assessment, review of mental and physical health, and risk management planning, delivered through multidisciplinary teams.
Registration and qualifications

- Approved Clinician (AC) under the Mental Health Act
- Section 12 approved under the Mental Health Act in England and Wales
- Affiliate of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2012
- MBBS, University of Jos
- MBA in International Healthcare Management, completed December 2024
- ADOS trained — the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule
- Safeguarding training at Level 3

Experience
Dr Egbuna qualified in medicine in 1998 and has worked in psychiatry in the United Kingdom since 2003, training through a rotational scheme covering general adult, old age, forensic and child and adolescent psychiatry. He has held consultant posts in child and adolescent mental health services across England and Wales.
He has led services as well as delivered them: Lead Clinician for an eating disorder service from 2014 to 2017, and Lead Clinician for first onset psychosis in child and adolescent mental health services from 2011 to 2014. Alongside this he has carried out neurodevelopmental assessments for children, young people and adults in independent practice since 2018.
He teaches and supervises medical and nursing students, and has contributed to audit and research including work on substance misuse in adolescents, prescribing practice, and the physical health of people receiving psychiatric care.
