Screening and guidance does not produce a formal autism diagnosis. It helps you understand whether autism may be relevant, and what support or next steps would be useful.
If a formal diagnosis is what you need, PRC offers a separate autism diagnostic assessment — the full clinical process, including a feedback appointment and a written diagnostic report. Screening is often a sensible first step towards it, but it is not a substitute for it, and you can book an assessment directly if you already know that is what you want.
Who this is for
Adults, children and young people living in England, and their families, who are wondering whether autism may explain long-standing differences in communication, social experience, routines or sensory needs, and who want informed guidance before deciding what to do next.
What it includes
- A structured appointment with a PRC clinician, online or in person at our Northampton office.
- Discussion of your experiences, history and current difficulties.
- Use of recognised screening tools where appropriate.
- An explanation of what the screening does and does not tell you.
- Written guidance on useful next steps and available support.
- Signposting towards a formal diagnostic pathway where that is what you need.
Price
Autism screening and guidance is £300. The fee covers the appointment, the use of recognised screening tools where appropriate, and written guidance on what the screening does and does not tell you.
This is not a diagnostic assessment. A full autism diagnostic assessment is a separate service: £1,500 for an adult and £1,600 for a child or young person, including the feedback appointment and the diagnostic report.

Please tell the team which you would prefer when you book. In-person appointments are by arrangement only, so please do not attend the office without a booked appointment.
