Therapy and Mental Health Support

Family and Systemic Therapy

Online therapy that works with the family or relationships around a difficulty, rather than treating one person as the problem to be fixed.

Who this is for

Families, couples and households in England dealing with conflict, communication difficulties, separation, bereavement, illness, neurodivergence in the family, or a young person whose difficulties are affecting everyone. Not everyone needs to attend every session; who takes part is agreed as part of the work.

What sessions involve

Suitability, limitations and crisis support

Therapy does not guarantee improvement or a particular outcome, and it is not a cure. Family therapy is not mediation and is not a legal or court reporting service. It is not a crisis service and does not provide urgent or out-of-hours support. Where there are safeguarding concerns, PRC follows its safeguarding responsibilities.

Sessions, duration and your therapist

Sessions are 60 minutes, and the fee is per session rather than per person, so it does not change with how many family members attend.

Family work often runs less frequently than individual therapy — commonly fortnightly or monthly — because it takes time to put changes into practice at home. The pattern is agreed with the family rather than fixed in advance.

There is no minimum number of sessions you have to commit to.

Price

£140 per 60-minute session

Family and systemic therapy is £140 for a 60-minute session. Couples therapy is also £140 for 60 minutes.

The fee is per session, not per person, so it does not change with how many family members attend. There is nothing further to pay beyond the session fee.

Cancellation: more than 48 hours’ notice, no charge; less than 48 hours, 50% of the session fee; a missed session with no notice, the full fee. Full details are on the Prices page.
