Medication and Prescribing
How PRC approaches medication after an assessment, what prescribing involves, and what it costs to continue. Medication is never arranged without an assessment first.

An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. Medication is offered only where clinically appropriate. GP shared-care acceptance cannot be guaranteed. Clients may need to continue paying privately for prescriptions, reviews and monitoring.
This service is not available for direct public booking
Medication appointments cannot be booked directly from this website. They are arranged with you by PRC following an assessment, so that prescribing is only ever considered where it is clinically appropriate.
How medication is approached
- An assessment takes place first, and establishes whether medication is clinically appropriate.
- Where it is, the options, expected benefits and possible side effects are discussed with you.
- Prescribing is arranged as a separate appointment, not during the assessment.
- Ongoing review and monitoring appointments are required while medication continues.
- Prescriptions and pharmacy charges are separate from PRC appointment fees.
GP shared care
Some people hope to transfer prescribing to their GP under a shared-care arrangement. Shared care is a decision for your GP practice and cannot be guaranteed by PRC. If your GP does not take on shared care, you may need to continue paying privately for prescriptions, reviews and monitoring for as long as you remain on medication.
Price
A psychiatric medication review is £200. A private prescription issued outside a scheduled consultation is £35, and a replacement or amended prescription is £25.
The medication itself is not included. The cost of the medicine and any pharmacy dispensing charge are paid directly to the dispensing pharmacy, are separate from PRC’s fees, and continue for as long as you remain on medication. If your GP does not take on shared care, those costs stay with you.
